I actually like the idea that muhahah and the puzzle master gave. I was thinking the older Kuchiki (@Jlazlo, I don’t know of any evidence that he is still alive) but Rukia’s sister actually makes good sense. We don’t know that much about her death and it fits all the reasons I thought it was the former captain of the 6th division (@puzzle master… oh, it wasn’t Byakuya’s sister though, it was his wife and Rukia’s sister, she searched for Rukia, died and he finished the search and adopted her… I still think it is sad that most people never find their relatives after they die in Soul Society).

Also, please let that put to rest any more suggestions of it being kenny’s sword….because he clearly isn’t dead. I don’t even know who started that idea…but every single piece of evidence i’ve seen goes against it…

Meh , I bet Byakuya just thought all the shinigami were getting rusty so he’s protecting Muramasa till they all best their Zanpaktou, and grow some real B**LS and get that connection goin again. Byakuya is the one cause and no matter what get it done kinda guy.
